As a children’s book author, I share narratives inspired by the wonders of marine life. In these stories, sea creatures work together to care for their ocean home, helping young readers discover how every animal plays an important role in keeping the ocean ecosystem healthy.

About Kristen Halverson
Kristen Halverson is the author of a 31-book illustrated children’s portfolio celebrating the natural world—from the sea to the savanna—and the animals we share our lives with, including beloved equines and felines, through stories of courage, compassion, and wonder. Halverson is also a strategic leadership scholar, and certified language instructor. In addition, Kristen serves as a Red Cross water safety ambassador whose work inspires young readers to explore the world’s waters safely along with respecting marine life.
Literacy Outreach Programming
Since 2016, Halverson has delivered public library reading programs in the Midwest, Colorado, and Hawaii. Her philanthropic missions have been brought to life for over ten years and captivated young minds and promoted environmental stewardship. Through her books and children’s programs, Kristen Halverson inspires young readers to care for animals, oceans, and the natural world.

Aloha Ocean Safety is a children’s book that promotes ocean awareness, water safety, and drowning prevention for youth and families. Through engaging storytelling, it helps young readers understand how to recognize hazards, respect ocean conditions, and make safe choices in and around the water.

During a children’s program at the Waikiki–Kapahulu Public Library, I shared the message of Kai’s Ocean Magic—that even one small wave of kindness toward our ocean can spark change when we work together to reduce plastics and debris from our beaches.

I challenge beach communities around the globe to host a Day of Caring: One Wave at a Time—a collective effort to remove plastic and debris from our shores and protect the oceans that sustain us. Every piece of plastic removed from a beach is one less threat to marine life.
