About Kristen Halverson
Kristen Halverson is a native Texan and seasoned children's book author who writes to raise awareness about ocean preservation, marine life conservation, ocean safety, wildlife conservation, and climate change. A tenacious advocate for literacy, she has shared her love of books with her local community through public reading programs and by giving back to leading organizations through her writing.
A certified Red Cross Water Safety Ambassador, lifelong educator, and storyteller, Kristen’s mission is to help families and young readers explore the magic of the ocean safely and responsibly—a passion reflected in her upcoming book, Aloha Ocean Safety that teaches children how to stay safe while snorkeling, kayaking, and discovering marine life.
Certified English Language Instructor
Halverson began teaching English as a Second Language in 2002 and holds both TESOL and TEFL certifications. She currently teaches English online to children and adults from around the world. Having traveled extensively, she loves learning about different cultures and connecting with students through shared experiences. Most importantly, Kristen is passionate about helping learners achieve their educational and professional English goals. She specializes in conversational development, business communication, phonics, business English, test preparation, essay writing, and HR-related language skills.
Literacy Outreach Programming
Since 2016, Kristen Halverson has been dedicated to delivering year-round outreach reading programs for public libraries and advancing literacy through her writing. Her literary portfolio currently includes twenty-six children’s storybooks, all available worldwide through Ingram Content and its distribution channels. Kristen’s dynamic and innovative programs, designed for students in grades two through six, focus on themes of kindness, animal education, and core values. She has facilitated numerous programs across Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, inspiring young readers to care about the world around them.
A passionate advocate for ocean safety and marine conservation, Kristen strives to help children and families enjoy the ocean responsibly while learning to protect its incredible wildlife. Her upcoming Hawaiian series, launching in 2026, will highlight sea turtle conservation and ocean safety with a focus on snorkeling awareness. Through her stories and outreach, Kristen continues to combine her love of literacy, environmental stewardship, and education to make a meaningful impact.
