About Kristen Halverson
I'm a native Texan and seasoned children's book author that writes to raise awareness about ocean preservation, marine life conservation, ocean safety, wildlife conservation, and climate change. I'm a tenacious advocate for literacy and I've enjoyed sharing my love of books with my local community through public reading programs along with giving back to leading organizations with my books.
I enjoy spending time with my family, rescue horses, snorkeling, taking ocean safety courses, and swimming laps.
Certified English Language Instructor
I began teaching English as a Second Language in 2002 to adults and hold a TESOL and TEFL certification. Currently, I teach English online to children and adults from all around the world. I have traveled extensively and love learning about different cultures. More importantly, I enjoy helping my students accomplish their educational and professional English goals and dreams. I specialize in conversation development, business communication, phonics, business English, test prep, essay writing, along with HR processes.
Literacy Outreach Programming
Since 2016, I have been committed to delivering year-round outreach reading programs for public libraries and advancing literacy through my writing. In my literary portfolio right now, there are twenty-six storybooks. My titles are available from all Ingram Content and Ingram distribution channels around the world. My dynamic and innovative programs cater to second through sixth grade. All my animal-themed children's books emphasize themes of kindness, animal education, and core values. I've facilitated numerous programs in Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In 2026, I will be launching a Hawaiian series of storybooks that cater to sea turtle conservation and ocean safety with a focus on snorkeling.

Halverson grew up as a lifeguard. She's also a conservationist, swimmer and snorkeler, and continues taking ocean safety classes.
