About Kristen Halverson
I'm a native Texan and seasoned children's book author that writes to raise awareness about ocean preservation, wildlife conservation, equine and bovine welfare, and climate change. I'm a tenacious advocate for literacy and I've enjoyed sharing my love of books with my local community through public reading programs along with giving back to leading organizations with my books.
I enjoy spending time with my rescued horses and Texas Longhorns, hiking along Lake Superior, and traveling.
Certified English Language Instructor
I began teaching English as a Second Language in 2002 to adults and hold a TESOL and TEFL certification. Currently, I teach English online to children and adults from all around the world. I have traveled extensively and love learning about different cultures. More importantly, I enjoy helping my students accomplish their educational and professional English goals and dreams. I specialize in conversation development, business communication, phonics, business English, test prep, essay writing, along with HR processes.
Literacy Outreach Programming
Since 2016, I have been committed to delivering year-round outreach reading programs for public libraries and advancing literacy through my writing. In my portfolio right now, there are twenty-three storybooks along with one inspirational book. My titles are available from Ingram Content. My programs cater to second through sixth grade. My animal-themed children's books emphasize themes of kindness, animal education, and wholesome core values. I've facilitated numerous programs in Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In 2025-2026, I will be marketing my barn owl conservation storybook, poetry book along with a nature inspirational book.

Bluebonnet Bella: A Longhorn Dream
Inspired by Halverson's own Texas Longhorn calf born this past year. Kristen has written a delightful and fun Texas Longhorn themed storybook that teaches fun facts about Texas and follows Bluebonnet Bella on a cool journey around Texas.
